FLYPACK DACUS TRAP is a trap that uses “Attract & Kill” technology. It is composed of a plastic capture cone (inside which the attractive dispenser and the pheromone should be placed) and of a lid treated with insecticide in the inner side. Insects are attracted into the trap by the dispenser, the pheromone and the yellow color. Once inside the trap, they come into contact with the insecticide and die. Compared to other methods, the advantage of this trap is a better understanding of the catches curves and of the dynamics of attacks accordingly, since the insects remain trapped inside the device; in this way, a prompt action can be taken. The attractive dispenser and the pheromone used in this trap are specific against Bactrocera oleae. Being the insecticide kept into the trap, FLYPACK DACUS TRAP doesn’t spread active ingredients in the environment and on foodstuffs, and it is safe to the operators. The use of FLYPACK DACUS TRAP is allowed in Organic Farming.
The traps should be placed at least 7-14 days before oviposition begins (approximately from the 3rd – 4th week of June).
The traps should be distributed homogeneously inside the olive grove, at the height of approximately 1.4-1.8 meters and preferring the south/south-west side of the plant, in shaded area to guarantee a greater presence of the pest.
It is advisable to increase the number of traps in correspondence of the edges, in case of abandoned bordering olive groves.
The trap keeps its attractive capability up to 180 days. However, you should consider to apply auxiliary insecticide treatments, depending on pest pressure.
